The program cannot accept everyone who applies. Several factors are considered including eligibility parameters and program space considerations.

Yes! We love our first-year students!

Students pursuing a career in a STEM field are eligible, even if that STEM field does not require a license. You can learn more by visiting our eligibility page.

If you are not pursuing a career in STEM and/or your career path does not include a profession that requires a license, you are not eligible.  We encourage you to ask your academic advisor or Career Services staff about other opportunities you may be eligible for. 

This ranges for each student around 30-40 hours for the academic year, which includes 20 hours of a service-learning project. Beyond the service learning project, P3 students complete their P3 requirements at their own pace throughout the year. All P3 students are required to meet with their P3 advisor 2-3 times each semester and are required to attend the fall and spring all-cohort meetings. 

P3 students are not required to participate in a P3 hosted winter or summer program, however, all P3 students are required to share what they did over breaks (i.e. learning, volunteering, working, internships, research). If interested in participating in CDP, WISER, or WISP programs, students are welcome to apply and discuss any questions they may have with their P3 advisor.

Each P3 student is required to meet with their P3 advisor regularly and meet the following requirements:

One-Time Requirement

• Participation in our etiquette dinner is required once during your time as a P3 participant.

P3 students will be enrolled in a P3 Canvas course with more details on each requirement.

P3 students have the opportunity to join Graduate Students Mentoring Undergraduates (GSMU). Informally, students can connect and create bonds with P3 ambassadors and fellow P3 students. 

We can be! Each P3 student is assigned to a P3 advisor. During each advising appointment we assist you in successfully navigating Cornell and identifying resources and support helpful to you for your aspirational and career goals. The more we get to know you, the more we are able to best support you.

In the OADI space, P3 students can connect with the writing coaches and LSC tutors. P3 students are also encouraged to utilize faculty and TA office hours and to meet with their college academic advisors regularly. Informally, P3 students can utilize the OADI space for study sessions with peers.

P3 alumni are welcome to continue to meet with P3 advisors. We do not require anything from our alumni. If time permits, we would love for alumni to connect with current students and keep the P3 network going post-graduation.

Active P3 students may be eligible to enroll in one Kaplan test prep course provided by P3. P3 students must meet with your advisor first to discuss their interest in enrolling in a test prep course and determine their eligibility. If eligible, their advisor will share the next steps necessary for course registration.

Yes! P3 funding can be requested to support the cost of attending professional conferences, graduate or professional school preparations, and internships and shadowing experiences. P3 students are encouraged to talked their advisor if they are unsure if the expense they are requesting funding for falls under the aforementioned categories.

No. P3 funding cannot be used towards tuition purposes.
