Research Interests: I study online harms, digital trust and safety issues in the Majority World. My research reveals cultural biases and lack of cultural sensitivity in existing content moderation systems, which disproportionately affect non-Western populations. My dissertation focuses on “designing culturally aware content moderation tools” to address harmful content in non-Western contexts.

About Me: I grew up in Bangladesh, where I did my undergrad and master’s in Computer Science and Engineering. Before starting my PhD, I worked as a lecturer of CS in a private university in Bangladesh for almost four years. I am currently a 4th year PhD student in the Information Science department at Cornell. I love reading books, going to concerts, doing jigsaw puzzles, and watching full moon.
