Faolán (FAY-lawn) Boyd is a PhD student in the department of Linguistics. Their research focuses on multilingualism, how different languages use different speech sounds, and the ways that languages can change and influence each other when they come into contact. Consequently, they have experience working with writers from a wide variety of language backgrounds and a deep appreciation for how each person's language journey contributes to their unique style and voice.

Outside of academia, they enjoy creative writing, DIY fashion, listening to post-hardcore bands, and going on long hikes. A fun fact about Faolán: their favorite animal is the Polistes wasp.
