Research Interests: Anjana Ramkumar researches the intersections of agroecology, rural development and the cultural politics in South Asia. Her work draws on and contributes to scholarship in political ecology, critical agrarian studies and South Asian studies. She uses a combination of qualitative methods in her research including ethnographic fieldwork, participant observation, semi-structured interviews and narrative analysis. Anjana has conducted fieldwork in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Philippines and India on topics related to the environment, agriculture and development. Prior to her graduate studies, Anjana worked in Singapore’s foreign service, specializing in international climate change negotiations.
About Me: Born in India and raised in Singapore, Anjana loves to cook and experiment with new recipes in her kitchen. An introvert, she enjoys taking time to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and unwind with music, walks and long drives. She has a one-year-old son and is still figuring out parenting!
