Research Interests: I am broadly interested in nutrient cycling (especially carbon and nitrogen cycling) and the use of biomonitors to track global change. My current work uses lichens (a symbiotic association between fungi and green algae) to understand the combined effects of carbon dioxide and nitrogen pollution on nutrient availability. This helps us to better predict how plant growth patterns might change over the next few decades.
About Me: I am originally from Boise, ID and spent my time there swimming, hiking, and running all over the state. In 2019, I moved to Portland, OR to get my bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Portland. While living in the Pacific Northwest, I fell in love with foraging for wild mushrooms (which set me on the path toward studying them in my PhD). In my free time, I also enjoy reading, cooking, and getting coffee with my friends.
