My name is Helssy Almanzar, and I am a junior at CALS. I am majoring in Animal Science with a concentration in Pre-Veterinary studies. As a first-generation college student, I am incredibly proud to be pursuing my dream of becoming a veterinarian.

I was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to New York City when I was just four years old. Growing up in a city as diverse as New York has been an incredible experience, and I feel fortunate to have been exposed to so many different cultures and perspectives. 

As a child, I was always fascinated by animals, and I spent time rescuing and rehabilitating animals. These experiences inspired me to pursue a career in animal medicine, and I am now well on my way to achieving that goal.

In my free time, I enjoy exploring the outdoors and spending time with my family and friends. I am grateful for the opportunities that CALS has provided me and am excited to continue my education and pursue my passion for animal health and welfare.
