Ryokichi Yatabe Outstanding OADI Alumni Partner

The Ryokichi Yatabe Award recognizes an alumni who has made an on going commitment to the university through their appreciation and advocacy for campus diversity and their active contributions to the betterment of our greater communities as an agent of social change.

Nominees must have graduated from Cornell University at least two years prior to nomination and award recipients are selcted by OADI staff. 

Legacy

Ryokichi Yatabe (B.S., 1876) was Cornell's first Japanese graduate. Dr. Yatabe went on to become the first professor of Botany and Curator of Botanic Gardens at the University of Tokyo.

The 2018-19 winner was Tameka Walker-Blake '01.
