About Heidi

My name is Heidi Guo and I’m studying in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, as well as completing a university-wide business minor. The ILR School is a place that truly allows me to grow and learn tremendously as an individual over the past year. Within the ILR School, I participate in the Student Government Association that organizes academic and social events to create a more tight-knit community among our students and staffs. Besides that, I also find it meaningful to be a peer mentor, a role that I greatly value as I get to share thoughts and advises with my peers who are in need of help. To me, it is also a responsibility that I take seriously because I believe that support system is vital to the health of students and their development on campus. Another important aspect of my campus involvements is being a member of Alpha Phi Omega, a well-known and widely recognized service fraternity on campus. Through Alpha Phi Omega, I am able to connect with a larger Cornell community and come to accomplish things with like-minded people. With these past experiences, I have learned that the best way to experience our campus really is to let your passion guide you to do amazing things!

I’m so grateful to say that I can look back with so many unforgettable moments; there were ups and downs but OADI has always been there for me to provide support, guidance, and love. A snapshot of one of my favorite memories with OADI was the lobbying trip at Albany, New York, where I had the chance to meet with state legislators to advocate for educational funding, as one of the student representatives of Cornell HEOP/EOP. It was an eye-opening experience that I wouldn’t have had without the help I received from OADI staff. At first, I was part of OADI, and now OADI is a part of me, as an integral part of my college experience. I have found a home away from home.
