What was/is your favorite part about OADI?
My favorite part about OADI is helping students with application materials. I love hearing about their goals and their experiences, which are often so different from mine. The students that come into OADI are so driven and inspiring, and I’m always excited to help them figure out the best ways to convey their ideas in writing.
Do you have any advice for incoming or first year students?
Keep an open mind, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes!
What part about being a writing coach, has taught you the most?
Being a writing coach has taught me a lot about both writing and people. Each time I help a student with material, it’s like solving a puzzle: what’s the clearest way to describe this goal? How can we make your personal narrative into a compelling story? How can we clarify this passage without losing your unique writing voice? When I’m helping someone with their writing, I try to make sure that we’re both learning something.
What is next for you after Cornell?
